Chrono Trigger - 1

#1

Chrono Trigger is one of the best and most innovative games ever. Everything from it’s one-of-a-kind battle system to it’s basic gameplay.

It starts off as a 16-year-old named Crono gets out of bed and starts his everyday life, but today is a special one because it is the day for the millennial fair at Leene Square. When you go there you accidentally bump into a girl named Marle (she has a secret identity) and take her with you to your best friend Lucca’s invention, the time egg. I’ll leave the rest up to you to find out but along the game you meet up with many unique characters drawn up by Dragonball Z creator Akira Toriyama. The whole world as a matter of fact looks like Goku’s little planet.

They call this game Chrono Trigger because you eventually travel back and forth through time to correct an evil that has secretly plagued the planet for millions of years since it crash-landed during the time of the dinosaurs. This game also has a very clever side option called New Game Plus. This lets you play through the game again with your stats from a previous game! So that means you can start a new game on level 60 or with the best weapons, you just have to beat the game a certain way. There are many paradoxes along the way that outcome the whole game.

I think this is a strong title even though it’s the year 2002 practically. The graphics are all the rage buts there nice and clean, no bugs. The sound is still pretty good; It is composed by Yasinori Mitsuda and a little by Nobuo Uematsu. The melodies are great and this would be my favorite soundtrack if it were real orchestra. Overall this is still a good game despite it being primarily a snes game but you can snag a PSX copy now. It has lots of bonuses anyway like anime’ movies and music box. I give Chrono Trigger a steady 8 out of 10.
